Think back to your first time you have ever played a video game… yeah all the way back! Now remember just how much that game influenced the way you think about games and perhaps even influenced your childhood.

Here is a collection of some of the best retro games!


Lemmings is a retro video game that was published in 1991.

It was both fun and frustrating trying to get all the lemmings safely to the exit!!




The first Ghostbusters video game was published in 1984.

In this retro game you had to eliminate the ghosts.



Dr. Mario

Dr. Mario, another retro video game, was published in 1990.

Your task was to eradicate those deadly viruses!!



Bubble Bobble

The video game Bubble Bobble was first released in 1986.

Bub and Bob had to rescue their girlfriends!




The first Bomberman video game was published in 1983, yeah very retro.

Placing the bombs on the right spot to open paths and to kill thy enemies.



Alley Cat

The retro video game Alley Cat was published in 1983.

You have to help Freddy the cat find his love Felicia.


Wizard of Wor

Wizard of War is another retro video game from 1981.

Warriors had to kill all the monsters!



The Legend of Zelda

The first Legend of Zelda video game was released in 1986.

The objective of this game? Link has to rescue Princess Zelda, but you already knew that!



The Great Giana Sisters

The Great Giana Sisters video game was released in 1987.

Little Giana is in a strange world where she can only leave when she finds the magic diamond. Thankfully she gets some help from her little sister Maria!




Tetris is perhaps of the most well-known retro video games worldwide. It was released in 1984.

We think that everybody knows this game, so figure out how it works yourself!



Super Mario Bros.

The Super Mario Bros is another commonly known retro video game and was published in 1985.

Mario (& Luigi) travel through the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue Princess Toadstool. Are they good enough to beat Bowser?



Street fighter 2

The first Street Fighter video game was released in 1987 and has a place in almost every retro gamers heart.

The best-selling version was Street Fighter II which exceeded $ 1.5 billion in revenue.



Space Invaders

The Space Invaders game was released in 1978, yep the definition of a retro video game.

Try to defeat all those aliens without getting shot!



Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog video game was released in 1991. Yet another example of a worldwide retro game.

Sonic has to stop Doctor Ivo Robotnik’s plans for world domination.



Prince of Persia

Prince of Persia video game, the first release was in 1989.

The price would jump and skip through multiple levels with a few fights thrown in there too.




Pong! This Game was released in 1972 and is a classic retro game.

Defeat your opponent in this table tennis game!




The Pacman video game was released in 1980 and is a retro game that even your mother will know of!

Eat all those pac-dots and run away from the ghosts!


Many of these retro games defined a generation. Some of them are also currently available for Nindendo DS, XBOX 360, Playstation 3. If you are feeling retro, get playing!

    Lemmings!! First game I had on Commodore Amiga! I had the captain planet pack with Lemmings… greatest game ever!!
